| Jehovha Witness (aka Russellites)
|
This is not something to try and bash Jehovah Witnesses after all they are lost too. We as Christians are supposed to speak the truth in love. My heart is heavy that those people have been lead astray from the truth. My prayer to you if you are a Jehovah Witness is that you will see the truth and that truth will make you free.
First the history of the Jehovah Witness and Watchtower Society:
Founder: Charles T. Russell (1852 - 1916),
Born in Allegheny, Penn., Charles parents were Scotch-Irish Presbyterians.
- Age 15 Charles dropped out of high school and joined his father in operating a chain of mens clothing stores.
- Charles rejected the doctrines taught by the Presbyterian Church and attended a Congregationalist Church.
- Charles soon rejected their doctrine of Hell: eternal judgement for the unbeliever.
- By age 17 Russell had become a skeptic of all "organized" religion and disgarded the Bible all together.
- In 1870 or at age 18 Russell began to study with the Second Adventists (The founders of today's Seventh Day Adventists.)
- Charles beleived that the second coming of Christ would be invisible.
Charles Russell publishes his religious beliefs.
- In 1877 Charles began publishing his personal predictions concerning prophecy.
- His first prophetic writings stated that the second coming of Christ had already occured invisibly in 1874, and that the end of the world would come in 1914.
- In 1879, Russell published his first magazine, "Zion's Watchtower and Hearld of Christ's Presence." He believed the publication of literature was the most effective method for saturating the world with his "New Message."
- Through the influence of his 1st magazine, Russell was able to witness the founding of over 30 Watchtower congregations by 1880.
Charles Russell organizes a corporation
- In 1884, the Zion Watchtower Tract Society was organized as a corporation, and this date is recognized as the official beginning of Russell's "religion". His followers were not yet known as Jehovah's Witnesses but were called "Russellites."
- 1886 Russell issued the first of a seven-volume searise of doctrinal books called the "Devine Plan of the Ages." The entire series was called "Millennial Dawn" and later changed to "Studies in the Scriptures."
- Six million copies of the first volume were distributed.
Charles Russell establishes a headquarters.
- 1889 the Watchtower Society aquired a building in Allegheny, Penn., as headquarters for 20 years.
- 1900 the Society established a branch office in London, and in 1903 and office in Germany.
- 1908 the headquarters of the movement was moved to Brooklyn New York where it remains today. This location is affectionately known as "Bethal."
Charles Russell was a false prophet!
- Early in his ministry, he attempted to calculate the return dates of Jesus Christ through and intricate mathematical measurement of the Great Pyramid in Egypt, compiled by Anglo-Israelite, Professor G. P. Smith.
- Russell first predicted the second coming of Christ to be in 1874. When Jesus was a "no-show" Russell changed his calculation.
- He then explained that Jesus Christ had returned invisibly in 1874, and that the end of the world would come in 1914.
- Again Jesus Christ failed to show, Russell redefined the second coming of Christ to mean that he had returned as an invisible spirit or ghost in 1914 to help Russell develope the organization.
- This proven false prophet died in 1916.
